FAQ
Who Can Benefit from Reflexology?
Reflexology is suitable for individuals of all ages and can provide relief from a variety of acute and chronic conditions. Each session is tailored to the unique needs of the individual, with shorter treatments recommended for children and the elderly.
People continue with regular reflexology sessions after completing a treatment course for a specific condition to maintain overall health and well-being. While reflexology is widely used for relaxation and stress relief, it is also recognized by many healthcare professionals as a respected and effective complementary therapy.
With increasing levels of daily stress, taking an active role in your well-being is essential. Reflexology supports healing on physical, mental, and emotional levels, promoting balance and overall health.
What Should I Expect During a Reflexology Session?
Your first visit will begin with an initial consultation, where we will discuss your health history, lifestyle, and wellness goals. This allows us to personalize your treatment plan.
A standard reflexology session lasts approximately one hour, but the recommended course of treatment will depend on your body’s specific needs.
What Is the Binaural Meditation Used During Sessions?
Binaural meditation is a technique that utilizes specific sound frequencies, coming from a headphone, to influence brainwave activity, promoting deep relaxation and mental clarity. This method, known as brainwave entrainment, helps guide the brain into a meditative state, enhancing the benefits of your reflexology session.
Why Don’t You Offer Massage Therapy?
From the moment I began practicing reflexology, I knew I had found my true calling. My passion and expertise lie in this specialized therapy, and I believe my clients receive the best results when I focus solely on reflexology. Many have shared that this dedicated approach has been profoundly beneficial to their well-being.
Who Might Not Benefit from Reflexology?
While reflexology is highly effective for many, about 15% of clients experience little to no noticeable changes. In such cases, I am happy to recommend alternative therapies that may be a better fit for their needs.
When Should You Avoid a Reflexology Session?
There are a few circumstances where reflexology is not recommended:
- If you have consumed alcohol on the same day or plan to drink later.
- If you have a contagious infection.
- If you have conditions such as athlete’s foot, which may require alternative treatment.
How Will I Feel After a Reflexology Treatment?
Most clients report a deep sense of relaxation and overall well-being after a session. However, some may experience temporary effects such as fatigue, nausea, or emotional release. These reactions are a normal part of the body’s healing process.
If you notice any of these effects, please share your experience with me. This feedback helps tailor future sessions to better support your body’s response to treatment.
What would be good to know before a session to plan accordingly?
To get the most from your session; If working out so ahead of time, preference would be no alcohol and limited caffeine. My suggestion is to wear comfortable clothing during the session, If you are bringing it you can change in the bathroom ahead of time.
After the session, please give yourself time to come “back to reality”, as the session puts you into a parasympathetic healing mode which feels like a pleasant “trance like state” . My suggestion would be to just let go and be eveloped into your own bliss deeply and completely.
Should I be trying to relax during the session?
You will be offered a weighted face mask, the binaural beat meditation music, and if you choose things like the Tuning Forks, the Crystal Bowls, you absolutely will sink into the session quickly. If you chose to use nothing at all clients still will go into a deep trance around 20-30 minutes in. I tell people “don’t try too hard” because trying becomes trying”! Just let go and let the reflexology do the work so that you can be enveloped into your own Bliss, deeply and completely!!
Are there possible side effects from a session?
Sometimes people go through a detox period, usually for 24 hours where you may feel a bit ‘yuck’ like you’re getting a cold. This is typically your body simply recalibrating and a very good sign your body is moving toward homeostasis/balance. Over the next few days your body should feel positive changes such as less pain, more energy, better sleep, and more peace.
I will text you a few days after the session to see how you are, especially after the first session to see if you want to book in for more sessions, to keep the healing process Non-Stop.
How many sessions should I have?
Some people come for just a few sessions, some come monthly after a course, some come weekly to keep them at peak performance. If you are coming just for stress and you have no health issues then you could decide when you want to come again, which would be determined by how often you need to recalibrate to stay more at peace.
If you’re dealing with chronic issues like an injury or insomnia or headaches etc my suggestion is once a week for 4 weeks and then see if you can wean off and go every other week and then every 3 weeks and then every month. This is the best prescription I’ve seen for long-lasting healing.
My other suggestion is if you noticed that you started getting symptoms after some kind of traumatic event, getting a divorce, dealing with personal loss, a car accident. Then I would really consider adding EFT-Tapping, if you clear out the events leading to your symptoms this gives your body the biggest opportunity to heal. Again please just start a conversation about that with me during our intake, you can ask me anything
What's different about my sessions?
With three decades of experience, I operate at an intuitive level providing a deeper level of support. Additionally, available add ons (tuning forks, singing bowls, beat meditation music, and eft), create the opportunity for fully immersive experiences.
Do sessions change the more I have them?
Over the years, I have noticed that the first session is not necessarily the strongest session because your body (if you have never had reflexology before) has no idea why there is a woman at the end of your feet doing caterpillar movements all over your feet… But even though the session (most people think is really powerful), they actually do get stronger during the second and third session and then they kind of stay there at a heightened place indefinitely. Your subconscious starts to trust that this is “good stuff”!!!!
